Appointment of Andrea Baldo as the Newly Appointed CEO of Mulberry
An official statement by Mulberry reveals that Andrea Baldo, the former leader of Ganni, will now serve as the fresh CEO of the organization. This alteration occurs amidst a period of decreased consumer spending in the opulent fashion sector.
Assuming the role previously held by Thierry Andretta, who joined Mulberry in 2015, Baldo is set to commence his new position immediately. Baldo’s prior roles include being the CEO and executive director at Ganni from October 2018 until April this year. Preceding that, he operated as the CEO and board director at handbag brand Coccinelle from 2016 to 2018 and as a board director at Marni Group from 2013 to 2016.
Chairman of Mulberry, Chris Roberts, expressed strong belief in Andrea Baldo, remarking, “After an extensive search process, it became evident that Andrea’s global fashion brand knowledge, ingenuity, and strategic acumen made him the optimal choice for this position.”
Mulberry has witnessed a decrease in its annual sales owing to economic adversities and a decline in opulent consumer spending, particularly in the recent quarter.
Burberry, among other luxury retailers, faced similar challenges, witnessing a 36% decrease in full-year profits in May due to the sluggishness in lavish expenditures.
