A Nationwide Hunt by M&S for the Next Fashion Designer in an Upcoming ITV Series

M&S has initiated a nationwide search for its next designer through the launch of an upcoming competitive television series.

The forthcoming ITV show, scheduled for autumn debut, will unveil the entire talent scouting process as ten contenders compete for an in-house junior designer role at the fashion brand.

Across six episodes, the participants will encounter a range of tasks aimed at evaluating their design acumen, problem-solving abilities, commercial sense, and teamwork skills.

M&S revealed that each challenge will mirror its design and product development stages, starting from research and trend identification to the creation and enhancement of unique products.

The company highlighted its interest in individuals with innovative flair, a hunger for knowledge, and a love for design, emphasizing that having a formal fashion qualification or training is not obligatory.

Working out of a specially erected design hub, the contestants will be judged by a board of M&S top executives alongside an array of celebrity figures and designers, in the presence of hosts AJ Odudu and Vernon Kay.

Anna Braithwaite, M&S’ Marketing Director for Clothing and Home, conveyed: “The UK is home to some of the most brilliant up-and-coming design talent globally, and we are eager to discover these talents.

“We are on the lookout for the next generation of designers who can contribute to our objective of elevating M&S’ fashion standing and crafting distinctive products that allure not only our current clienteles but also entice those who may not have previously considered us.

“Following the positive reception from customers for our behind-the-scenes glimpse during the Christmas delivery, we are excited to reveal, for the first time, the internal mechanisms of our Clothing & Home design process through this gripping new television format.

“Anticipate an energetic, inventive, and delightful broadcast – and for the winner, a rare opportunity to partner with some of the industry’s finest to formulate collections that will be embraced by many.”
